Those new users would not be aware of the fact that the phone was previously unlocked on a particular i OS version with software like Ultrasn0w: such devices will loose the activation status as soon as it gets updated to new i OS. In the next step, choose to install Cydia and proceed. You will have to run Redsnow 0.9.15b3 app again to boot it tethered and for the jailbreak to work exactly as desired. So during the upgrade, after the restart, the phone may immediately display a message- “connect it to i Tunes to activate the i Phone.” Soon the device will get deactivated, and a “no SIM card installed” or “SIM invalid” message will show up. Download Windows or Mac version of the Redsnow 0.9.15b3 app from our home page. Download i OS 6.0 IPSW for i Phone 3GS or i Phone 4. Connect your i Phone to the Mac or PC, after downloading the necessary software. Remove the SIM card ( only if you need hactivation), and then execute Redsn0w. Click on button and go back to the main window of the application. The jailbreak process will begin and at some stages the Redsn0w will request manual interventions: you have to turn off your i Phone and take it to the DFU mode whenever required. Your i Phone 4 or 3GS will boot into fully activated mode once the jailbreak process ends. Those who just wanted to avoid the activation screen/SIM invalid can skip the upcoming steps and start using their i Phone in the unlocked state. In order to boot the device tethered, follow the step number 5, and then click on Just Boot button instead of going back.
